Kat Calvosa: Listen

The World's Holiday Party

(music & lyrics by Kat Calvosa)
We just got an invitation,
To a party for every nation.
It would be held in two weeks time,
At the center of the world, we would dine.

There would be so many faces,
From so many different places.
How would we know what to say,
When asked about the customs of our day?

We'd simply say:

There's Santa Clause and Rudolph's nose
Old St. Nick and Frosty Froze
David's Star and a Menorah
Auld Lang Sin and Kwanza for ya!
But in all this joyous fun,
We wish peace on earth to everyone!

So across the world we traveled
To the party sure to dazzle.
When we got there we were scared.
What if no one even cared?

Then we met a king and queen,
From far away in Indochine.
Asked us what our customs say,
Asked how we celebrate.

We simply said:

There's Santa Clause and Rudolph's nose
Old St. Nick and Frosty Froze
David's Star and a Menorah
Auld Lang Sin and Kwanza for ya!
But in all this joyous fun,
We wish peace on earth to everyone!

Now the party's almost over
And to home we must be goin'.
We must say goodbye to you,
But first we'll share a smile or two.

Looking back we have discovered
All the world is brightly colored
Everyone says peace on earth
Is the magic that must happen first-
Everybody Sing!

Der friede, heiwa, paix, amani,
Shalom, pace, an ping, saanti,
Peoning hwa, fred, tsumukikiatu,
Irini, mir, paz, peace to you.
But in any language sung,
We wish peace on earth to everyone!
